Casey James is a blues musician from Fort Worth, Texas, best known for being a finalist on the 2010 season of American Idol. Following the summer Idol tour, James was signed to Sony BNA Nashville. He's currently in the studio working with country songwriters Aimee Mayo, Oscar-nominee Tom Douglas, and Jaren Johnston of American Bang.
In March 2011, James opened for Sugarland on the Incredible Machine tour and performed some new material. James' debut album is slated for release from 19 Recordings/BNA Records in March 2012.USA Today music critic Brian Mansfield suggested that James was "arguably…the best guitar player the show has seen.
" James lifelong goal was to be a "famous blues musician," a dream that was almost shattered after a serious motorcycle accident at the age of 21. He was told by doctors that he would no longer be able to play guitar, a medical prediction that proved untrue.
James has stated that his primary influence is blues guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, harkening back to his Texas roots. Other influences include Merle Haggard, Jonny Lang, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam.
