Elizabeth Santos Leal de Carvalho (born May 5, 1946 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian samba singer, guitarist, and composer. She had sung on the radio from the age of seven, but her first LP was 1968's Andança.
She had a variety of hits in the 1970s with her 1979 song Coisinha Do Pai being her biggest hit. The song was inserted into the Mars Pathfinder. In the 1980s she started a "samba pagode" movement which used different instruments for samba and had no "pop" arrangements.
She also set up samba schools and began doing more socially conscious music. Her social music concerns all the Brazilians that appreciate the real "Samba"!
