Patricia Petibon, a native of France, received her bachelor’s degree in musicology and later studied at the Paris Conservatory with Rachel Yakar and Anne-Marie Rodde. She received the Conservatory’s first prize in 1995, and during the 1996-97 season she came to public attention in the revival of Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie at the Paris Opera.

Last season, Ms. Petibon appeared in Dialogues des Carmélites at the Paris Opera, performed in Chabrier’s Le Roi malgré lui at Avery Fisher Hall with the American Symphony Orchestra, and sang Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande for the Lyon Opera and in New York.

Future engagements include performances of Der Rosenkavalier at the Vienna State Opera and Les Indes galantes at the Zurich Opera House, her debut at Madrid’s Teatro Real in Dialogues des Carmelites, and her first Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro for Nancy Opera.

Ms. Petibon has recorded the role of Sophie in Werther with Roberto Alagna, Maddalena in Caldera’s oratorio La Pasione di Gesu with Europa Galante, Haydn’s Armida, Mozart’s C minor Mass, and a solo recital of works by Rameau, Lully, and Grandval for Virgin Classics.

Her most recent recital album, French Touch, includes arias by Gounod, Delibes, Offenbach, André Messager, and Reynaldo Hahn. Ms. Petibon makes her San Francisco Symphony debut at these concerts.
