The group was formed as a result of the people at Hillsong Church thinking that a new group was needed to appeal to younger generations, because Hillsong United was aging and entering adulthood.
The current members of Hillsong Young & Free are Tyler Douglass, Tom Furby, Alexander Epa Iosefa, Aodhan King, Jack McGrath, Alexander Pappas, Tracy Pratt, Renee Sieff, Ben Tan, Brendan Tan, Laura Toggs, Melodie Wagner and Karina Wykes.
They have released three live albums, We Are Young & Free (2013), Youth Revival (2016) and III Live (2018) as well as three studio albums, Youth Revival Acoustic (2017), III (2018), and III (Studio Sessions) (2019).
